![]() Mostly on minor stuff - email triggers and time zone handling are my two latest issues. so having some arbitrarily complex decisions (probably some limit but haven't hit it). Here I could extend that - have the workflow design include schedules, HTTP connection status, etc. I can do that with Blue Iris also, but only because they built it in as separate options. For example, I can have a camera doing motion detection, have two different frame captures (for stills) at different rates, one hanging off of motion and one not. The visual workflow design is very cool, and more beyond how you put it together, the ability to assemble all those modules is very cool. It's really different, and I like it mostly. Comes down to easy and polished vs deeper and I can customize it. I can find lots of information on the first two, both will do what I want I think. I'm down to short list so far of Blue Iris, Zoneminder and Xeoma. Probably some others I have forgotten as they all start to run together.Īnyway. I am convinced the core is the software, and have been doing trials on lots of software - Blue Iris, Zoneminder, Sighthound, AxxonNext and Xeoma. That's just one example.I am planning a DIY system with about 6-8 cameras for our residence. I'm willing to sacrifice other features if the product has great multi-site functionality. Some systems have great features but do a poor job with multi-site. Figure out what the absolutely needed requirement are and then start your search. Is it 3rd party compatibility? Analytics? IP camera renewal costs? etc. What it really comes down to is what do you and/or your customer care about the most. Axis Camera Station has been around, but they don't have as many client/server features as Exacqvision and Avigilon. They work with 3rd party cameras (can't comment on UBNT) and they have licensing models for 3rd party and Axis branded cameras. Avigilon isn't that bad with license renewals.Īnother vendor to mention is Axis (Axis Camera Station). Exacq is bad, in my opinion, when it comes to IP camera license renewals. With 3rd party systems (commercial grade systems) you will be looking at buying IP camera licenses, keep that in mind. I have also tested Avigilon with 3rd party cameras, some work and some don't. Avigilon makes their own cameras (Exacq doesn't) and if you use ONVIF with Avigilon, you may not be able to use all of the features of the Avigilon software. Keep in mind that Exacqvision and Avigilon also have their own list of pros and cons. I have not tested RTSP with a camera that was not already connected to the UNVR so I can't comment on that. I know UBNT cameras have RTSP options, but someone stated that RTSP can't be used if they are not connected to the UNVR. ![]() You can look at Exacqvision and Avigilon if you want to use your own hardware and 3rd party cameras, but UBNT cameras may not work. I work with professional/enterprise VMS systems daily, I've seen a lot and unifi does do a couple things well, but they are behind on the commercial side. The unifi networking line also has these same issues. They are inconsistent with their settings when they update their firmware. ![]() You don't have a 'fat' client (the browser interface can lag at times). My issue with protect is that you can't do multi-cam export. Also, with Analytics taking off, having all of the same brand hardware/software does help tremendously (again, when the code works). Rcode to construct a bar plot how to Rcode to construct a bar plot code ggplot ( mpg, aes ( displ, hwy ) ) + geompoint ( ) ggplot ( mpg ) + geompoint ( aes ( displ, hwy ) ) Tidy evaluation - aes() automatically quotes all its arguments, so you need to use tidy evaluation to create. I do like that having their cameras and their hardware means that hardware/software play nice (when the code works) and automatic firmware updates are pushed out when you update the protect software. Xeoma vs blue iris Rcode to construct a bar plot. Personally, I don't mind being locked into their cameras/hardware, it really depends what you want. There is great potential, but unifi has spread themselves too thin. I am a protect user but I mainly bought it to test on a small install (my own) and I'm not happy with it.
